Cayuse, Walla Walla Valley, En Chamberlin Vineyard, Impulsivo Tempranillo 2016
98 points Jeb Dunnuck The 2016 Impulsivo is all Tempranillo comes from the En Chamberlin Vineyard and was brought up in 50-60% new French oak. It's a deep ruby/purple-colored effort and reveals a stunning bouquet of cassis, black cherries, smoked earth, gravelly minerality, and cedary spice. Still tight, backward, and vibrant on the palate, it another one of the 2016s that's going to need 3-4 years of bottle age. Aromatically intense, the wine unveils black tea, exotic spices, smoked meats with dried tarragon and blackberry pie that all mingle on the nose. The salinity of this wine is just insanely good as the wine slowly unveils bright black fruits that mingle with Satsuma orange zest, licorice and light peat moss with black truffle shaving tones on the palate. Satisfying and rich on the noiuth, this stunning wine is truly one of the best of its kind in North America
