93 Points CellarTracker Member This wine has big fruit, big oak, and big alcohol yet it still feels well balanced. Decanted and poured, the color is deep black with a maroon rim. Little signs of age visually as the wine is still very concentrated in color.Crème de cassis, balsamic vinegar, and waves of big vanilla on the nose. There is also slight vegetable notes like raw celery in the high note. The nose is intense and wafts out of the glass at nearest approach.On the palate the wine is viscous, coating the mouth with big blackberries and currants. There’s also strong black coffee and chocolate liquor notes here. On the whole, the wine lacks balance on the palate as it has limited acidity that makes the wine somewhat taxing without food. Finishing a whole bottle of this would be a bit difficult without a piece of meat or a red sauce pasta.High quality winemaking here in a distinctly classic Napa style.
