11" x 14" x 1.5" Watercolor, acrylic (some fluorescent; molding paste) This original painting depicts the intergenerational tradition of making dumplings together. For our Taiwanese family, it's known as "jiao zi" or "guo tie" in Mandarin Chinese depending on whether they're steamed or fried. It's a loving activity that we do together and for each other. Each fold is made with love! Which is why I hid a heart in the folds of each dumpling in this painting, and also hid the Chinese words for "big" and "little" near the hands as well.
