About Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) was a Russian painter and art theorist who is credited with pioneering abstract art. He was born in Moscow and studied law and economics before turning to art. Kandinsky moved to Germany in 1896 and began to develop his unique style of painting, which he called "abstract art". Kandinsky's early works were influenced by the Symbolist movement, and he often used rich, expressive colors to convey emotional states. Over time, he began to experiment with abstraction, gradually moving away from representational forms and toward pure abstraction. Kandinsky believed that art had the power to transcend the material world and access deeper spiritual truths. He developed a complex theory of color and form, which he explored in his writings as well as his paintings. He was a founding member of the Blue Rider movement, a group of artists who sought to explore new forms of expression through abstraction. Image Specifications All images in this download are 4000px
