A rare Regency mahogany writing table in the manner of Thomas Hope having a banded inset leather top and a carved "rope twist" molding over a case with eight working drawers bordered at the base with lambs tongue molding of large scale on unusual carved legs comprised of geometric shapes of tapered caps over reeded roundels supported by tapered bases resting on tapered reeded legs terminating in claw feet with hidden casters. English circa 1810. Advertised by Mallett's of Bath in 1930. Thoe original gilded brass hardware to a design by Thomas Hope. Ht. 31.5", W. 61.5", d. 39.5"
