You can see how close weather came to ruining this shot, as the clouds had just shifted prior to the transit, which you can see hovering over tranquility base.  These shots are planned weeks in advance, and require scouting a location along the path of transit, and setting up hours in advance to check seeing conditions against the forecast to make sure it is
