Artist StatementWe are very fortunate to live in the United States of America. We enjoy so many freedoms that people around the world can only dream of. However, those freedoms were not always available to every citizen. Thankfully, activists across the timeline of our country have stood up for what is right on behalf of us all. This piece is an attempt to depict some of those struggles and how they have become an honored part of our country's history. — Michael Czerniawski
