This incredibly unique Malachite Polished Freeform Specimen is a treat to have and hold. Freeform Malachite is an extremely unique and interesting specimen.  Malachite is known for its deep-green appearance with darker green rings when polished. The rings in Malachite come from a botryoidal (grape-like) growth structure when polished down.  Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral and is rated between 3.5 and 4 on the Mohs hardness scale. In ancient Egypt, the color green was associated with death and the power of resurrection as well as new life and fertility. Ancient Egyptians believed that the afterlife contained an eternal paradise which resembled their lives but with no pain or suffering and referred to this place as the ‘Field of Malachite'.
