The ancient Inuit believed the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) were trapped inside the crystal that would become known as Labradorite. A warrior set out to find the lights that had disappeared from the sky and when he found them inside black stone on the east coast of Canada, he tried to release them but wasn’t able to free them all, and some remain trapped inside. They believed the aurora was the dancing spirits of their ancestors, which is why it was so important to find and free the lights.
