Also available as high quality note cards. Perfection is overrated! This Rose, like so many of us, shows some weathering. Such is the nature of Roses in the summer heat. A fresh sprinkling of Pacific Northwest rains adds character and the sense of rejuvenation. By August, we are all feeling the heat. Roses too. I usually visit the garden in the early morning. It is a perfect opportunity to talk with plants. There are very few other visitors. It is a true mediation with the roses. In June and July, this early schedule is a preference, but by August it is a necessity. The garden has an incredible view to the east. An incredible view of the sunrise. Or if you turn around, facing the roses, as I do, the light gets very intense, very quickly after sunrise. Especially in late summer. So, I am on a clock from the moment I arrive. A race against the sun’s rise. But even an experienced garden visitor, has to stop sometimes. This beauty was near the end of my visit. It was getting hotter. I was
