Artist: Jason Thomson, MinnesotaMaterials: sterling silver, green garnetSize: 5.8 Artist Statement: My work is intended to change opinions and educate people further about differences aka disability. Society views people with differences as unhealthy, defective, and deviant. Over the centuries people with disabilities have been mistreated as human beings. There are still cultural, social, and religious views that still affect people with differences. My work entails how disability historic movements are still present in today's practices of society by creating wearable or sculpture objects to show the viewer the reality of disability culture in the public view. Artist Bio: Jason Thomson received his BFA at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater and his MFA at the University of North Texas in Metalsmithing and Jewelry. In past positions, he worked for SCAD for as a Digital Fabrication Lead Tech and was a polisher at a small jewelry company for a short time. Jason is currently making jew
