Artist: April OtteyMaterials: sterling silver, beach stonesSize: 9 Artist Statement:I started with the idea of a secret abacus made of stones that would be hidden for a person to spin as a way to alleviate anxiety, especially now during the pandemic. I was inspired by poison rings that became popular in Europe in the 16th century. The ring evolved from there. Special thanks to Ron Gerton for the cast squid tentacles.I’ve been exploring marine life and the beaches on the Olympic Peninsula since moving here in October.
