Tulips - Elegant Decay Brooch

Artist: Deb KarashMaterials: argentium, silver/copper bimetal, sterling silver, prismacolor pencilDimensions: 3"x2" Artist Statement: My work is often inspired by botanical forms so the tulips in the fabric were a perfect inspiration. The colors were also taken from the fabric. The pieces are fabricated in a combination of sterling silver, argentium silver, and copper. After some preparation to create a receptive surface, I draw on the copper with colored pencils. The pieces are sealed with a lacquer and then waxed to preserve the finish. Artist Bio: Deb Karash was raised in the Midwest before making the move to the mountains of North Carolina.
