Allium schubertii, Tumbleweed Onion

A supernova of a flower: giant 12–16 inch diameter, starry, metallic purple orbs always command a second glance and concomitant raves. The stems are relatively short, so place these bulbs near the front of a dry border or walk. It makes a huge sparkler that won't scare dogs and cats on the 4th of July and it can be the star of the most spectacular dried arrangement!  Mature size: 1-2 feet tall Minimum temperature: -20° F
