Edgeworthia chrysantha (syn. papyrifera), Paper Bush

Silky white buds open to sweetly perfumed yellow flowers on bare stems in late winter. Place along a path for earliest spring aromatherapy. Deciduous with rubbery-looking "trunklets." When the flowers are finished, the large, soft, lanceolate, medium to light green leaves emerge. This is one tropical-looking plant but in 2013 it made it through 8º F, snow and ice just fine.  Mature size: 6 ft T x W Minimum temperature: 0° F
