Olive-green and leathery narrow swords are margined with curling white filaments. Together these elegant leaves form a fountain that fairly catapults a 3-foot arching stem, the length of which is bejeweled with coral-pink flowers that have deep yellow throats. Bloom time is a good 3 months! (You scarcely see the leaves because the flowers are so striking.) Hummingbirds will visit often and if near a window, can entertain you for hours. Give this plant space to set off its architectural nature. Heat- and cold-tolerant! An evergreen Tex-Mex native. Mature size: 3 – 6 ft T x 1 – 3 ft W Minimum temperature: -20° F Photo of leaves by Skarz, CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons
