From checkerboards to chevrons, David Webb expertly pairs patterned enamel with brilliant-cut diamonds to create iconic and recognizable pieces, like the favorite Chevron ring.  The geometric shape of this ring first appeared in the 1971 David Webb Holiday catalogue. It could be purchased in solid black or white enamel. However, David Webb jewelry is ever-evolving and certainly keeps up with the times. By 1976 the ring had a new look, retaining its architectural structure and combining the black and white enamel to create the chevron design. The New York City landscape was changing rapidly in the 60's and 70's and it is very likely that the sight of these new structures going up all around David Webb's neighborhood impact him.
