Adult males can get up to 110mm in size, rendering it one of the largest flower beetle in the world. Unlike most beetle species listed on this website, the larvae of this species cannot thrive on flake soil. Instead, they need a high protein diet such as koi food to grow.  Primarily feeds on koi food. Can also be fed dog or cat food. Beetle larvae go through 3 different larval phases: L1, L2, and L3. After the L3 stage, the larva pupates to turn into an adult beetle!
