Australian Dendritic Opal Rock Slab 49

Australian Dendritic Opal is a glassy opalite that is filled with very intricate black dendrites on a variety of background colors.  The semi-transparent opalite material takes a brilliant polish to set off the distinctive feathery dendritic pattern.  A challenging material to work with as it tends to be a bit brittle, the extra effort to make a finished piece is well worth it. Origin:  Australia Dimensions: 3.25" x 2.75" and approximately 6.9 mm thick.  Weight = 74 g.  Shown wet.  Not polished.  Flaws are shown as white lines in the final picture frame.
