Our first Old Elk selection seduced us by having a very similar profile to Welle 12 yo. In fact, in a blind tasting, some of us had a tough time distinguishing between the two. It stands to reason, as well, because both have wheated mashbills, and if you are a fan of wheated bourbons, this one should be right up your alley. Mashbill: 51% corn, 45% wheat, 4% malt barley. Cooperage is Speyside in KY and char level #4 121 Proof Fill Date: 4/1/2015 Mashbill is the custom wheated mashbill Greg Metze did for Old Elk while at MGP. In other words, the barrel was laid down at MGP, but it's a custom mashbill specifically for Old Elk (and now The Prime Barrel).
