Super GT is Japan's premier multi-class GT racing series featuring two distinct classes, GT300 and GT500. The GT300 class has regulations similar to that of the popular GT3 class, but with more wiggle room for eligible cars. GT500 on the other hand, features three Japanese manufacturers, Honda, Toyota, and Nissan. In 2021, the cars run in the GT500 class were the Acura NSX GT500, the Toyota GR Supra GT500, and the Nissan GT-R GT500. This class takes GT racing to an entirely different level of speed, making the GT300 class look slow in comparison. In true Japanese style, these cars run small 2.0L four cylinder engines with a single turbocharger that produce upwards of 650 horsepower. That, combined with huge aero components and a completely carbon-fiber monocoque chassis makes for racecars that rival Le Mans prototypes.
