Jameson Whiskey was founded by John Jameson, who was originally a lawyer in Scotland before he founded his distillery in Dublin in 1780 after his marriage with Margaret Haig, who was the eldest daughter of John Haig, a famous whisky distiller in Scotland.  In 1805, he was joined by his son John Jameson II who assumed responsibility and took over the company later in that year, and for the next 41 years, continued to build up the business which was then handed over to his son John Jameson the 3rd in 1851. Fast forward to the 19th century, and Jameson had become the second largest whiskey producer in Ireland and one of the largest in the world, producing upwards of 1,000,000 gallons of full-bodied whiskey’s a year.
