The hard truth that we as a people must come to know in order to begin the work of healing, is that leaders are hurting. The truth is leaders come under great attack, scrutiny, and pressure. Getting put in a leadership position doesn’t create emotional wounds it only exposes what is already there. Ideally, before being given a position of authority, a title, and a platform one should have been prepared, healed and developed first. Many people covet leadership positions, secretly believing that the position will heal their spirit of rejection or their hurt. They don’t realize that unhealed emotional wounds and being put in a position of leadership is a recipe for disaster. We don’t really have a systematic mechanism in place where we deal with the leader’s emotional wounds and help them heal before we give them positions. The book provides the answer and antidote.
