Stunning antique set of 10 gold encrusted Hutschenreuther Selb salad plates. Hand-decorated by A.W. Steiner Studio in the 1920s. Impeccable condition. Unique 22K gold encrusted trimmed pattern of leaves. August W. Steiner was a German immigrant who first worked as an artist for Pickard China of Chicago (1911-1917) and then opened his own Chicago studio. The studio, where he created and marketed his fine hand decorated ceramics and dinnerware, was first located on Garfield Avenue then relocated to Wabash Ave. in Chicago's Jeweler's Row in 1923.
