
Hasui 巴水 : Moon Over Akebi Bridge (Sold)
Artist: Kawase Hasui 川瀬 巴水 (1883-1957) Title: Moon Over Akebi Bridge あけび橋の月 Series: Collection of Views of the Moto-Hakone Minami Mountain Villa Date: 1935, Summer Moon Over Akebi Bridge. A full moon rises over the Akebi Bridge in the garden of the Mountain Villa Kenan. This series was commissioned by the Iwasaki family, who were the original founders of Mitsubishi. The prints in this series were later sold to foreign visitors when the villa was converted into a hotel, The Hotel de Yama, a resort in Hakone that is still in business on Lake Ashi. This is from the first edition, with the round Watanabe seal, lower right corner and an embossed title. Condition: Very good impression, color and condition.
