Here, he is portrayed with  major Bodhisattvas including Amitabha, Green tara, White Tara, Guru rinpocche, Manjushree, Namtoshe and Vajrapani. This thangka is done in traditional black and gold, Nakthang style. Arya Avalokiteshvara graces the central part of the thangka, attended by his close Bodhisattva and offering goddesses. Avalokiteshvara is also the earthly embodiment of the eternal Buddha Amitabha, whose figure is depicted in his headdress. He guards the world between the departure of the historical Buddha, Gautama, and the appearance of the future Buddha, Maitreya.
