Avalokiteshvara Chengrezig Thangka Introduction To The Thangka : Chenrezig is the most revered Bodhisattva, embodying the compassion of all Buddhas. He is also known as Avalokitesvara, which means "Unwavering Eye." He listens to the cries of all sentient beings during times of strife and trouble. His two front hands clasp in front of his jewel-draped heart in a devotional gesture. On his upper right hand, he wears a crystal akshamala, or rosary, representing the never-ending cycle. His left hand is carrying a white lotus, indicating that he liberates conscious beings from the muddy streams of agony and hellish places, guiding them to higher levels of enlightenment. He's dressed in silk and sits on a row of lotus petals, his legs in the meditational "diamond position." How to take care of your thangka? -Hang your thangka in a traditional silk brocade-Regular Inspection of your thangka; examine the borders and all attachments.-Keep thangkas covered when they are on display but not in use
