By Kenneth Gross. “In the summer of 1965, in the New York City borough of Queens, two small children were murdered. Almost immediately their mother, Alice Crimmins, became the central suspect in a sensational and tragic case that has made headlines for a decade and is still not finally resolved…” 1. Some would say it STILL isn’t, half a century after Gross’s 1975 account. 2. Anyone else miss the midcentury days of just putting the logline on the cover of books? This Book Club hardcover’s dust jacket is visibly quite worn — a long split at the top front of the spine; cornerwear elsewhere — but the boards are still well kept, and it’s clean inside, pages mostly snug (the photo array is a bit weak), no writing or dog-ears that I could see. A solid reading copy.
