Arenga caudata var. stenophylla

'Miniature Sugar Palm' is a small, understory, shrubby palm that grows up to 7 feet tall. It is a very fine form of the variable Arenga caudata with densely clustering, thin, cane-like stems and extremely narrow leaflets that are dark green above and silvery white below. Arenga caudata var. stenophylla is widespread over Southeast Asia and does well in a shady spot in a tropical or warm subtropical garden. Benefits from deep organic, acidic, sandy loam soils that are fertile and well draining but thrives on a wide range of tropical soils. Prefers high humidity.
