Plinia trunciflora "Cabinho Café Ipuiúna" Jaboticaba Seeds
Plinia trunciflora "Cabinho Café Ipuiúna" Jaboticaba or sometimes written just "Cabinho Cafe" is a delicious jaboticaba tree of 4-8 meters high in its native range. This cultivar was collected by prominent Brazilian collector José Aurélio Vilela. The cultivar is named "cabinho" meaning peduncle; "Ipuiúna", after a small town in the state of Minas Gerais state in Brazil where presumably it was originally collected; and "Cafe" after the fruit's flavor profile which is similar to coffee fruit (not the coffee bean, but rather the sweet berry). The plant is found from Minas Gerais state to Rio Grande do Sul state, in the Atlantic Forest and Mata dos Pinhais in Brazil. The tree has a dense spherical crown with slightly hanging branches. Like other Plinia truncifloras, the fruit hangs from long peduncles on the trunk often in clusters of 2-5 fruit. The fruit is globose, black, smooth, shiny with sweet pulp, has medium size seeds, and a minor crown similar to Sabara. Fruit size is typically 2+
