This bonsai pot is painted in the madori (間取文) style, with a traditional white circle showing through peripheral gosu (呉須) blue. In madori (間取文) , the artist creates square or circular spaces that typically contain an image. The white space itself becomes the design in this series, and the enveloping gosu (呉須) blue is painted by hand using the traditional dami (ダミ) technique.
