Monteraponi, Chianti Classico Riserva Il Campitello, 2020
Monteraponi is a high-altitude estate in Radda, where cool nights and limestone soils shape some of the most refined, age-worthy wines in Chianti. Il Campitello is their Riserva bottling from a single historic vineyard, made with traditional long macerations, large neutral oak, and zero flash. The 2020 vintage is a textbook example—transparent, vibrant, and rooted in terroir. Fresh sour cherry, blood orange, and cranberry meet notes of tobacco leaf, dried thyme, and crushed terra cotta. The tannins are firm but noble, the acidity crackling, and the whole wine feels alive with energy and intention. Give it a short decant now or tuck it away for a few years—it’s built to last. Perfect with bistecca, wild boar ragù, or any dish that appreciates a little rustic depth and Tuscan soul.
