I chose to use an earthy color palette for this tray to give it versatility in placement and uses. The natural browns, greens and sienna appear fluid, yet intertwine with one another around little islands of white, giving the viewer what seems to be an endless spectacle for the imagination. I wanted this piece to be very versatile in its uses, and I wanted it to be a a functional piece of art that can be used everyday. To accomplish this, I applied two coats of resin to the surface and sides, which also gives it a glass-like look. The resin coating can withstand 135 degrees, making it an excellent piece for the kitchen.
