Carob Bean Pods Ceratonia siliqua USES: Carob Bean pods are used just like cocoa and chocolate chips. It can be ground into a powder to give your recipes a cocoa flavor, or used whole just like chocolate chips, or used in coffee and teas. Carob is naturally sweet, unlike cocoa. To substitute in a recipe, use 1.5-2 times Carob by weight. Carob Bean is PET SAFE, as it lacks theobromine, the substance that makes animals sick when they ingest chocolate. Carob Beans are often used to make things like Dog Treats.
