Dining Table with Sculpted Base in Caviuna Wood, Giuseppe Scapinelli, 1950s - Lot 84A
Description This midcentury modern beauty is made of solid Caviuna wood, a favorite hardwood for designers like Giuseppe Scapinelli and Rino Levi. Anywhere you see you’ll find design: Four spider-like legs that converge in the center becoming four round arms that end in the tabletop. The top has two symmetrical edges giving the table a futuristic style. The woodwork is delicate but sturdy and functional. A visual treat. The wood has been refinished and besides the marks of age mostly in the legs, the piece is in excellent condition. This piece has all the fun aspects of a true midcentury modern piece – clean and curvy with an almost googie look that is unmistakably mid-century modern. This fun table would look great in any mid-century modern, contemporary, or post-modern type environment. This table can fit between 4-6 people or used as a standalone piece as featured in the photos.
