
Five Piece Bar Tool Set
A silver plate and Bakelite cocktail, bar, accessory set comprising of all the essnetils. This rare and wonderful piece is the complete bar set; six bakelite 'cherry' topped cocktail picks encircle the inner top level. Below this hangs the bar spoon with jigger to measure the ingredients marked with 1oz. and 1.5oz. Ice hammer, claw footed ice tongs and cocktail strainer. The base of the holder also acts as a drip tray to catch any remaining liquid from staining the bar below. The pops of colour from the picks were created from the introduction of a new material, Bakelite. Bakelite was developed by the Belgian-American chemist Leo Baekeland in Yonkers, New York, in 1907. It was one of the first forms of plastic to be made available for use in manufacturing. It allowed many new forms, shapes, and products to be created, and sparked the introduction of colour into home products and jewellery. In many ways, it was the colour palette of the Art Deco period.
