SC- Kir-Yianni "Akakies" Sparkling Rosé
Xinomavro, meaning “acid and black” in Greek, is one of the world’s rarest noble red grapes, originating from Northwestern Greece. Despite its sensitivity to suboptimal conditions and disease, it possesses a remarkable talent for producing unforgettable wines. Often compared to Nebbiolo-based Barolos or Burgundy Pinot Noirs for its firm structure and complex aromatic profile, Xinomavro's character is truly unique. At Kir-Yianni, we have mastered its fickle nature over decades to create world-class wines. From selected parcels of Xinomavro in Agios Panteleimonas, Amyndeon, within the homonymous PDO region of Northern Greece, this wine is cultivated in distinctive poor sandy soils at altitudes over 600 meters above sea level. In this cooler wine region, characterized by its unique meso-climate, Xinomavro thrives, showcasing both power and elegance. For our sparkling wine, the grapes are primarily grown on small plots near the lakes, making them the first Xinomavros harvested each year. T
