Contact artist “How do we relate to trees? Some feel huge and monolithic, inspiring awe. Others seem animated, eliciting wonder and humor. Most of my subjects are solitary images. This is how I achieve the vignette of “portrait.” Trees are most often part of a forest where they thrive. Yet the majority of the trees in my paintings reside on the edges of meadows and a few are located on the sides of roads. They are subjects that stand apart, and so we can identify with them singularly.
