Dendrobates leucomelas are found in the neotropical region in northern South America. Their range includes Venezuela, northern Brazil, Guyana and southeastern Colombia. They are 3-4 cm. They are not shy, and spend time both on the ground and climbing in the foliage. They are hearty, mature very quickly and are easy to breed; a great beginner frog. Males call with a distinctive and pleasant trill. Parents are from 3 independent lines.
