KA’s Desert Rose® is a 4” formal decorative dahlia with colors that evolve beautifully throughout the season. In hotter weather, the blooms appear nearly red, but as temperatures cool, they fade into a rose hue with lower petals turning a sandy rose color. This ombre effect is pretty lovely. Well, this one wasn’t the best performer for us. I’m the East Tennessee heat, this dahlia variety produced a lot of open centers. It was shielded from direct sun in the late afternoon and evening which does the trick for most dahlias.
