Martha McQuade is a Minneapolis-based artist and designer whose work explores the evocative nature of color, texture, and material—treating color itself as a material and focusing on the subtle interactions between them. Influenced by minimalism and color field movements, her work blurs the line between painting, fiber art, and collage. She often uses hand-dyed lint, a delicate and unpredictable medium, to create tension between precise geometric forms and soft, ephemeral textures, as well as between bright, joyful tones and moldy, muddy colors. These juxtapositions aim to inspire prolonged contemplation and to evoke internal, wordless feelings or memories unique to each viewer. Cotton lint, museumboard29" x 32" x 1"Made in 2022
