Deb Grossfield grew up in a suburb of Minneapolis and was often occupied by drawing, painting, and sculpting. School field trips brought her to the Minneapolis Institute of Art where she was entranced by the Post-Impressionists. Later, during her studies as an undergraduate, the work of photographers like Diane Arbus and Duane Michals inspired her to explore photography as an expressive medium.
