Erika Kay Mathison (b 1991) is an oil painter whose painting journey began while attending Minnesota State University in Moorhead, Minnesota, where they obtained their Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in drawing and painting. Erika’s fascination with the potential of painting the human figure and nature has been influenced by artists such as Caravaggio, Frank Frazetta, Anna Ruysch, and Bouguereau. In her work, Erika explores questions of identity, sexuality, and our relationship with both the natural world and each other as fellow human beings. Their paintings display a vibrant blend of classical and contemporary qualities, as evidence of Erika’s artistic influences and inspirations.
