Prickly Pear Mug by Tony Santoyo

Tony Santoyo is a Mexican-American who comes from immigrant parents and has lived in St. Paul, MN since he was a year old. He learned from a young age how to navigate his intersectional worlds like a dance. His artwork has become that dance, with ceramics, painting, and paper. It is a conversation or storytelling that mirrors the way he communicates; movement follows form or form movement. Santoyo received his BA in studio arts and minors in sociology and anthropology from the University of Minnesota and most recently finished the Core Fellowship at Penland School of Craft in NC. Currently, he looks forward to continuing his practice, growing his business, as well as being part of residencies and other opportunities that allow him to continue to learn and explore his experience and craft.
