Victorian Fleur de Lis Slide Chain with Opals & Pearls

A wonderful Victorian slide chain with a particularly lovely slide. The slide is shaped as a stylized fleur de lis, it is set with opals and pearls and has delicate engraved details. The slide runs along a long, gold filled trace chain; the color of the metal is a mellow antique yellow. The chain is finished with a small watch hook. Slide chains were originally meant to hold a small ladies' watch. It may still be used for this, of course, but these chains are very versatile and may be worn in many ways. It may be doubled for a shorter look and you can hang pendants, fobs, lockets, or whatever strikes your fancy from the hook. Circa 1880.
