He sent the message via John the apostle, who was in prison at Patmos. While specific churches were addressed, they represented all congregations at the time, and they reflect qualities found in every church of Christ today. The characteristics of each congregation were listed. Three congregations had a mix of positives and negatives. Two were found with only positive qualities, and two were found with only negative. Churches today should strive to develop the good qualities the Lord expects.
