Freeform Hand-Felted Merino Wool on Silk Chiffon Scarf - Made to Order

Crinkled silk chiffon or similar silk, airy and lightweight, is hand-painted with silk dyes in an organic pattern of dots and stripes. Then hand-dyed, soft, merino wool fleece is felted into it by rubbing and rolling the wool and fabric (with a lot of elbow grease involved!) so that the wool fibers merge and lock onto the silk. The felted sections and dangling fringes give a playful impression - as if the piece grew by itself. The crinkled silk with the felted wool sections creates a fascinating texture! The combination of these techniques produces a scarf that is at the same time lightweight and warm around the neck. You could also wear it as a head wrap.  The photo is of an example piece. I will make you a custom piece that is similar in style, in a color combination of your choice.
