ISS Expedition 8 refers to the eighth long-duration mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS), a collaborative space station program between NASA, Roscosmos, JAXA, ESA, and other international partners. The mission took place from November 19, 2003, to April 29, 2004, with a crew of two astronauts: American Michael Lopez-Alegria and Russian Mikhail Tyurin. During their stay, they conducted numerous scientific experiments in fields such as biology, physics, and materials science. They also performed spacewalks for station maintenance and upgrades. This expedition marked the first time that an American and a Russian served as ISS commanders simultaneously. The mission contributed significantly to advancing our understanding of life and science in space, paving the way for future ISS missions.
