This poster was created by the artist John Whitcomb, a prolific magazine illustrator during his civilian career and veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII who served as a combat artist at several major battles in the South Pacific. For this poster Whitcomb renders an image of American forces landing on a beachhead amidst incoming fire and tracer rounds lighting the sky above. A U.S. Navy Dispatch issued by Rear Admiral E.L. Cochrane appears in the upper righthand corner of the image which reads: TO ALL PRODUCERS OF LANDING CRAFT: We must send out armed forces ashore on many fronts to meet and crush the enemy.
