We no longer carry “rebuilt” axle assemblies (axle, boots, CVs, and clips) because of consistent quality control issues. Oftentimes, all we would get is a pair of used axles back that had been simply taken apart, cleaned, re-greased, and put back together with new CV boots. You can still get a complete axle assembly from GoWesty, but now we only offer all-new axle assemblies from EMPI, made in China.Like many things that come from China: For the money, they are hard to beat. But they are by no means the best axle assembly money can buy. The CV joints themselves have been pretty darn bullet proof, but we have seen the axles fail and have noticed the boots and grease are not the best, either. The best way to go is to build your own assemblies by re-using your existing, original German VW axle, and a set of the best quality parts and materials available.
